Water Coolers - Selecting the Best Type

Safe drinking water is very important for any person. Bottled water thus becomes very popular as it ensures filtered water. But since these bottles are very expensive and not available in abundance, water coolers were invented to provide cool filtered water to the people. These coolers have now become a very basic part of our life. It can be found in every house or office. It has become a very popular electronic appliance that is a must for any place where humans reside or work.

The two variants of this product available in the market are- the portable water cooler and the bottle-less water cooler. The first type is often used at home or small organisations while the second one is preferred where many people work or live.

The portable water coolers can be used at any place where there is an electric source to plug the cooler. It is generally featured with two faucets- one for hot water and one for cold water. This water cooler uses a large bottle of water as its water supply source. It is very apt for a place where plumbing cannot be carried out.

Despite the convenience and safety features, there are some issues involved as well. Firstly, the buyer has to consider the budget involved in purchasing the bottled water. Moreover, a storage space for water bottles has also to be maintained. Lifting of the water bottles is another issue.

On the other hand, the bottle-less water coolers or the plumbed coolers are connected to the main water supply. Water passes through a filtering system before reaching the cooler. There is an unlimited supply of water in this case. It is quite effective and cheaper for large organisations and canteens where the water requirement is quite large. There is no problem of lifting or ordering the bottles periodically.

But this type of cooler lacks flexibility and has a plumbing requirement. It is not apt in cases where the water requirement is not much.
